2009 Young Artist Competition Showcase
Saturday, January 10, 2009 (Murray State University, Murray, KY) — FREE to the public

The Seventeenth Annual Young Artist Competition will showcase the best high school musicians (grades 9 - 12) from Kentucky and surrounding states. The competition is divided into two areas—the Murray State University Piano Division for pianists and the Charles Manchester Instrumental Division for students who play any other orchestral instrument. Winners receive scholarships and perform with the Paducah Symphony on the My Kentucky Home Concert on March 21, 2009.

14th Annual Father Daughter Dance
Saturday, February 28, 2009—6:00 pm (Country Club of Paducah)

The Annual Father Daughter Dance has long made special memories for fathers and daughters to cherish their entire lives. The evening begins with photograph sessions at 6:00 pm and will include entertainment, buffet dinner, a special presentation of High School seniors, and, of course, dancing! Spring Chorus Concert
Sunday, May 3, 2009—3:00 pm (Broadway United Methodist Church of Paducah)

Dr. Brad Almquist, PSO Director of Choruses, will lead the Paducah Symphony Chorus & Children’s Chorus in a special springtime choral extravaganza celebrating the beauty of the human voice and 30 years of music-making in our community. The Symphony Chorus & Children’s Chorus, both auditioned ensembles, include adult and student vocalists from Western Kentucky and the surrounding quad-state region. Outdoor POPS Concert: My Hometown, My Country
Saturday, May 16, 2009—7:30 pm (downtown Paducah)

Paducah’s own Terry Mike Jeffrey will “Rock the River” with the Paducah POPS Orchestra under the direction of guest conductor Julius Williams. This Annual Open-Air Benefit Concert will commemorate Armed Forces Day and kick-off Paducah’s 2009 Downtown After Dinner series. Patrons are encouraged to prepare a picnic dinner, purchase table seats, or reserve a Diamond Table Sponsorship (which include dinner, wine, and VIP parking passes). Advance reservations for premier table seating options are available in the Sponsorship Garden and the Family Garden. And, designers get your gear on. . . we’ll be bringing back the ever-fabulous Table Decorating Contest for this Armed Forces Day Tribute.
